James R. Duncan, D.V.M. has raised dogs his entire life and credits the family cat with his interest in veterinary medicine. After the family's black cat had been hit by a car when Dr. Duncan was eleven years old, he performed his very first surgery by using red thread from his mother's sewing kit to sew him back up again. After obtaining his D.M.V., Dr. Duncan then founded Brookview Animal Hospital, Inc. in December 1961 at Broadview and Brookpark Roads, and moved his practice to his current location in 1972. We utilize the latest advancements in laser surgery, and de-claw cats in a manner that is not painful while enabling them to recuperate very quickly. Dr. Nelson is well known in the tri-county area for orthopedic and anterior crucial ligament repair in dogs and cats, and he continues to work with us on some of our more complicated surgeries.
