While working within the occupational health department of a major hospital, Sandra S. Dvorak realized that patients requiring wellness services were often forced to wait while the hospital staff attended to patients having more serious and immediate health issues. In October 1999, Sandy founded Advantage Health Care to provide these clients with a variety of testing services in a safe, friendly, and more time effective manner. We met with Sandy recently, and listened as she provided this overview of the services Advantage Health Care offers;
Advantage Health Care is a limited wellness occupational health service. Our goal is to provide employers, employees, and other individuals with a facility where wellness services are provided in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Our services include blood draws, breath alcohol testing, consortium services, DNA testing, drug screens, paternity testing, and physical examinations. We service over 300 companies and our testing complies with Department of Transportation (DOT) and other governmental agencies' specifications. We offer 24 hour negative drug screen results, drug policy writing and advisory services, and on-site mobile testing, in addition to advocating the implementation of a drug-free work force.
Two of the primary benefits we provide is the convenience and the safety of our services. Individuals waiting for wellness services at hospitals and health care centers are often forced to sit in the same area as patients who are ill, possibly being exposed to influenza, pneumonia, strep throat, chicken pox, or any number of communicable illnesses. In addition, individuals needing wellness services often wait unreasonable lengths of time in hospitals as patients are treated according to the severity of their condition. Those requiring a simple, twenty minute physical might be asked to wait two to three hours in an area filled with sick patients at a considerable health risk to themselves and at an increased financial cost to their employer. Our friendly, customer service oriented facility provides quick service without the exposure to potentially health threatening diseases.
We currently service the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), Cuyahoga County Children's Services, Cleveland-Hopkins Airport Limousine, the Medina school system, and we provide fingerprinting services for the State of Ohio for people working with children and the elderly. We provide physicals for the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), railroads, camps, work permits, schools, high school sports, and bus and truck drivers. Physical examinations require an appointment, and we conduct physicals both here at our facility and on-site.
We provide walk-in service for drug and alcohol testing and can also send a collector on-site to companies wanting to perform testing of their employees. We assist companies in establishing drug and alcohol testing procedures and policies that enable them to lower their Workman's Compensation premiums through pre-hire and random screenings. We also provide twenty-four hour service for emergencies and post-accident screenings.
